The field of international relations falls within both the Social Sciences and the Political Sciences. This discipline focuses on the study of relations between sovereign nations, including those relating to political, economic, and diplomatic matters. In addition, it looks at issues such as the role of international organizations, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and multilateral corporations in these matters. Consultants in international relations can play a variety of roles, including examining, analyzing, and interpreting international policies, legislation, government policies, and the activities of businesses, organizations, and governments, liaising with government officials, civic bodies, research agencies, the media, and political parties concerned with foreign issues etc.

Lobbyist

Lobbying involves influencing or advocating for certain government decisions and policies based on the needs and requirement of the clients. These clients can be different organisations, individuals, charities, foundations and local governments. Lobbying can happen in different areas including political decisions, local community movements and corporate mergers etc. Lobbyists research and monitor legislative and executive decisions and propose amendments to existing polices and law, new legislative policies and ideas based on behalf of the interest groups or clients. Some of the important skills needed for this job are communication, interpersonal and persuasion skills as it requires one to convince politicians/government officials to vote in favor of or against a legislation or law.
